YARD SALE TIPS

• Be careful if you let someone into your home, please use good judgement and keep an alert eye.

• Be careful what information you share with individuals. Just through casual conversation, you might accidentally share what time you and your spouse to to work, how long you are gone, what your kids’ names are, etc., with a would-be burglar.

• Always keep your money on you – in a fanny pack or apron – something that is not easily grabbed and stolen.

• Try to have a central point that people pass through, as they are less likely to try to steal something if they have to pass right by you.

• Post signs explaining that you are not responsible injuries on your property.

• If you garage sale is in the back, have all the windows and doors in the front of the house closed and locked. If it’s in the front of the house, lock up the back.

• Throughout the day, run extra money into the house and keep it hidden. If you don’t have time to run in, discreetly stash a wad of bills deep into your pockets.

• Don’t broadcast how much money you’ve generated throughout the sale.
