Call 311 or go to ‘Memphis 311’ online to request pickup of bulk items, large amounts of trash, limbs, yard waste, etc. Note size limitations for tree limbs. This is often quicker than waiting for the garbage truck to come around. You can also report city code violations (See list below for common violations) anonymously and request garbage can replacements.
Please remember to take your garbage can off the street/curb at the end of garbage pick-up day. It is a city requirement that they are not to be left out over 24 hours. If you know you’ll be out of town or unable to remove it in a timely fashion, please ask a neighbor to do it for you.
Also, no business advertising signs are to be posted in your yard.
Memphis has a leash law that requires all dogs to be on a leash unless they’re in the house or a fenced yard. If you own a dog, it is your responsibility to make sure the animal does not run loose in the neighborhood. Not only is your pet in danger of being hit by a car, but the many walkers and runners we have do not want to have to deal with a strange dog approaching them or their pet on a leash. Also, in respect for your neighbors, do not forget to pick up after your dog.
